POLICE BRUTALITY: “Police Are Not Serious With The Matter” SEE DETAILS

Following the directive from the FG to set a panel of Inquiry on Police Brutality, Extra Judicial Killings And Other Related Matters across the states following the End SARS saga, the police has been described as “not being serious in the matter”.
This Statement was made In a defense case with file no. JUD/AB/32/2020 between Mr Chimaroke Nwogu and the Commissioner of Police Abia State.

The petitioning counsel, Mrs. Ngozi Ukwenyi sought that the court proceeds with the defense not minding the absence of the petitioner and the respondent.

She said the petitioner was absent as he had gone for his medical treatments.

Reacting, the responding counsel FC Okafor pleaded the court to adjourn the defense as he is not ready.

Okafor said he was still trying to locate the policemen involved in the case to present them to the court.

Objecting the request made by the counsel, Mrs. Ngozi suggested the case be carried on  as the PW1 had been heard and cross examined.

She said the counsel FC Okafor made the same statement during the last sitting, stating that the police was not taking the matter serious.

She blamed the panel for allowing the delay tactics used by the police officers.

Okafor promised to provide the policemen as witnesses  in the next sitting.

The court was adjourned to March 2, 2021.
