A Founding Father and National Board of Trustees Member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Abia state Ochiagha Benjamin Apugo has strongly condemned a fake report linking him with the endorsement of a candidate of the APC in Abia state , Chief Ikechi Emenike, describing the report as false, misleading and insulting.
The respected statesman popularly known as Ochiagha BB Apugo, made the clarification when he hosted a press briefing at his Country Home in Ibeku Ancient Kingdom.
Ochiagha Apugo disclosed that though Chief Emenike and his team paid him a ourtesy visit as a Chieftain of the party to inform him of his governorship ambition as well as the proposed visit of the APC Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Umuahia, he emphatically told Emenike that the APC would lose both the Abia governorship and Presidential elections,and restated his uncompromising support for the Labour Party governorship candidate in Abia state, Dr. Alex Otti and its Presidential Candidate, Mr. Peter Obi.
On why he is supporting Otti, the APC chieftain reminded the Journalists of his political history, and disclosed that he has always associated with people of high moral standing and integrity, hence his support for Otti, and dismissed possible insinuations of anti Party against him.
He wondered why anyone should expect him to support a party that could not fix the strategic Umuahia-Ikot Ekpene road and the Umuahia-Ohafia-Aro chukwu road respectively, and maintained that both the APC and the PDP have failed Abians badly and should be rejected.
The renowned statesman who is widely respected for his fearless and firm stance on critical state and national issues, insisted that the LP Candidate, Dr. Alex Otti is the only outstanding personality in the Abia governorship race with the proven capacity and passion to develop the state, and explained that though he Ochiagha Apugo is a member of BOT and National Caucus of the APC, but that the development of Abia,including Ibeku land is of paramount importance hence his decision to support the ex bank Chief, Alex Otti whom millions of Abians believe is the best and most prepared candidate to develop the state.
The highly revered Prince of Ibeku Land who was visibly angry, cautioned Journalists against indulging in unprofessional conducts like was manifested in the report which unjustly misrepresented him, and explained that publishing false reports that project those who are responsible for the underdevelopment of Abia is akin to supporting one's oppressors, and maintained that he is one politician and statesman with an uncompromising trajectory of consistency, and thus could not have under any circumstances endorsed the APC candidate when everyone knows that Alex Otti of Labour Party is his candidate.
He commended INEC for the BVAS innovation and enjoined the Abia electorate to come out on the election day and vote for Alex Otti for governor and Peter Obi for President, insisting that their emergence would ignite the much needed development in Abia and Nigeria.
