The Kano State Government has announced the commencement of the Eid-el-Kabir break for all public and private primary and post-primary schools across the state, beginning Wednesday, June 4, 2025.

According to the statement, boarding students are to proceed on break from Wednesday, June 4, and are expected to resume on Sunday, June 15, 2025. Meanwhile, day students will return on Monday, June 16, 2025.

Parents and guardians of boarding students have been urged to pick up their children by the early hours of Wednesday, June 4, to enable them to spend the holiday with their families.

It further clarified that the Eid holiday does not alter the 2024/2025 academic calendar, noting that all other scheduled public holidays and school activities remain unchanged.

The Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda was quoted in the statement expressing gratitude to the people of the state for their continued support of the ministry.

“I want to use this opportunity to appreciate the usual support and cooperation given to the ministry by the good people of the state and also wish the students and pupils a successful Sallah break,” Makoda said.

The commissioner appealed to parents and guardians to ensure their children return to school promptly after the holiday to avoid disruption to academic activities.

Eid-el-Kabir, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of the major Islamic festivals celebrated globally by Muslims to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion and obedience to God.
