The member representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Afam Ogene, has empowered over 250 members in the constituency with various training and empowerment programmes in different fields including solar technology, ICT, fishery, amongst other.
This intervention by Ogene has significantly boosted the local economy by empowering these individuals and mostly youths-owned small businesses with ICT, an important tool that supports them in delivering services to millions of households in Anambra and beyond.
Speaking during his second anniversary town hall meeting and presentation of scorecard to members of the constituency, held in Atani, Ogbaru local government area headquarters, over the weekend, the lawmaker said the empowerment is aimed at enhancing productivity, creating jobs, and increasing the income of several families.
He said that each of the empowerment beneficiaries also received financial grants and relevant empowerment materials, adding that he has within two years sponsored 19 bills and 12 motions.
Ogene said, “I assured my constitutents that my services to them will continuously be guided by objectivity, sensibility and utmost responsibility, I pledging to continue to lead from the all front, by prioritising the interest, peace, development and progress of Ogbaru in every decision and step I make as their representative.
“The projects, including massive electricity, solar streetlights, water scheme in Ogbaru communities, provision of security vehicles, science equipment, construction/equipping of exam halls, training and empowerment of women, youths construction of cottage hospital are total cost of projects for Ogbaru Federal Constituency in the current budget.”
The lawmaker, during the town hall meeting debunked widespread rumours circulating particularly on social media that he, alongside other federal lawmakers received N1billion each from the Federal Government for their constituencies and misappropriated it for personal gain.
