Bauchi gov intervenes as farmer-herder clashes rock community

Following recent farmers/herders clashes in Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Governor Bala Mohammed has announced the establishment of a land allocation committee.

Mohammed made the announcement on Sunday, during an interaction with the parties, including security agencies, and stakeholders in the affected communities.

Acknowledging the complexity of the conflict, the governor promised that the government was poised to work with all leaders, including the district heads and community leaders, to find a lasting solution to this problem.

He said the committee, comprising land officers, are to “oversee the allocation of land and ensure that the rights of all parties are protected.”

He assured the residents that his administration would strengthen mediation efforts and adopt further measures to ensure peaceful coexistence, especially in Darazo LG.

He said, “We need to come together and appreciate each other. We will work with all leaders, including the district heads and community leaders, to find a lasting solution to this problem.”

Mohammed vowed that the state would not shy away from taking action against anyone found culpable of harming peace in the state.

He added, “We will not tolerate any breakdown of law and order. We will take decisive action to reverse any situation that threatens peace in our state.”
