The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has suspended a member of the party, Stella Ogbetta, for six months over a media post.
According to the party, in a communiqué signed by its Publicity Secretary, Peter Uwadiae-Igbinigie, Ogbetta’s post tarnished the party’s image.
Ogbetta had earlier been suspended by the local government leadership of the party, while the State Working Committee of the APC ratified her suspension at its meeting on Friday.
“It was particularly concerned about damaging social media publications attributed to Mrs. Stella Ogbetta, which have tarnished the image of the party. The State Secretary, Lawrence Okah, reported that the Oredo LGA Executive Committee had convened and recommended a six-month suspension for Ogbetta.
“The SWC, having received the formal communication from the LGA, ratified the suspension and further resolved that at the expiration of the six-month period, Ogbetta must tender a formal letter of apology to the SWC. Failure to do so will result in her expulsion from the party.”
