No fewer than five individuals have been arraigned before a mobile court in the Bolade area of Oshodi, Lagos State, for allegedly dumping refuse in prohibited areas.

Those arrested were identified as Sunday Chidiebere, Favour Odoh, Daniel Okunola, Michael Obi, and Amaka Abel.

They were allegedly caught dumping refuse along the median at Ago Palace Way in the Okota area of the state.

Confirming the arrest, the Commissioner for the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, in a post via his official X handle on Tuesday, said the suspects had been taken to court for prosecution.

He wrote, “Early this morning, the @Lawma_gov enforcement team arrested five offenders for dumping waste along the median at Ago Palace Way, Okota. They have been taken to the Mobile Court at Bolade, Oshodi, for prosecution.”

The arrests come as part of the state government’s renewed clampdown on violators of environmental laws.

Wahab has continued to reiterate the government’s commitment to maintaining environmental sanity and ensuring offenders face the full weight of the law.
