No fewer than 15 persons have been reportedly killed by bandits suspected to be members of Lakurawa in Kwallajiya village of Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
A source from the village who spoke with our correspondent on condition of anonymity said the incident happened on Wednesday afternoon when the suspected terrorists entered the village and attacked them.
He said the victims had been buried according to Islamic rites on Wednesday evening.
“We are deeply concerned about the continued acts of violence and the suffering communities are experiencing at the hands of bandits in various parts of this state.
“We strongly believe that such atrocities are often aided by information the bandits receive from some residents of the villages.
“It is, therefore, imperative that the public also intensify efforts to cooperate with security agencies,” the source said.
Meanwhile, both the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Col Ahmed Usman (retd) and the spokesman of the state command of the Nigeria Police, DSP Ahmed Rufai, could not be reached as of the time of filing this report.
