Abia, July 24, 2025 –

Hon. Onyekwere Akym Uche, has called on leaders and citizens across the state to embrace unity and focus on sustainable progress. Speaking, Onyekwere Akym emphasized the need for collective development and praised Gov Alex Otti’s efforts in promoting inclusive governance and reforms that prioritize the welfare of all zones in the state.

Addressing supporters, traditional leaders, youth groups, and political associates, Akym urged stakeholders to rise above partisan divides and place the interest of Abia first.
He noted that Abia North, with its untapped human and natural resources, must not be left behind in the state’s transformation agenda.

Unity is the foundation for meaningful progress. We cannot afford to be fragmented when the future demands that we work together to move Abia North, and indeed the whole state forward,” Uche declared. “Gov Otti’s administration has demonstrated a sincere commitment to equity and inclusive governance.
He is building a state where competence matters more than connections, and that is commendable.”

OAU has remained politically active and is widely seen as a strong voice in Abia politics. His renewed advocacy for regional harmony, youth engagement, and infrastructural development has gained traction in recent months.

We in Abia North must align ourselves with the broader development vision of this administration,” he continued

There’s a new atmosphere in Abia, one where roads are being constructed, salaries are paid, and institutions are being reformed. We must not only support this but also contribute our ideas and energy to make it sustainable.”

Highlighting his focus on youth and women empowerment, Akym pledged to continue engaging communities across the five local governments of Abia North, Ohafia, Arochukwu, Bende, Isuikwuato, and Ụmụnneochi, to ensure grassroots voices are heard.

This is not a time for silence or sidelining. Our youths want jobs, our mothers want better healthcare, our farmers need access to markets. I remain committed to amplifying these voices, especially in rural areas, and ensuring no part of Abia North is left behind,” he said.

Abia belongs to all of us,” Uche concluded. “Let us build a future where opportunity is not determined by where you come from, but by your readiness to serve with integrity and excellence.”
