Cyril-Fasuyi

The senator representing Ekiti North Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Cyril Fasuyi, has distributed farm inputs, including fertiliser, herbicides, and sprayers, to 400 farmers in the district.

The gesture is part of efforts to boost agricultural productivity in the state.

Fasuyi, who also gave cash gifts to the benefitting farmers, promised to sustain the support, “so that the farmers would be committed to ensuring food sufficiency in the district and the state at large.”

Speaking in Ido Ekiti in the Ido/Osi Local Government Area of the state on Thursday during the distribution of the inputs, Fasuyi said, “This is an attempt to empower the farmers so that their output will increase, which means increased revenues for them to cater to their needs.

The senator disclosed a plan to commit N200m to the training of 40 graduates from the senatorial district in Information and Communications Technology.

He added that he would step up efforts in facilitating federal employment for those seeking gainful employment in the district.

Fasuyi also assured his constituents of the provision of more boreholes to communities, renovation of schools, installation of solar lights, and distribution of educational materials to students.

Each of the 400 beneficiaries received a carton of herbicides, bags of fertilisers, a sprayer, and cash.

One of the farmers, Mr Amos Olatunde, lauded the senator for the gesture and support, adding that the items would support them to boost productivity in their farms.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Mrs Kemi Olaleye, hailed Fasuyi for giving back to his community.
