Katsina State Governor, Mallam Dikko Radda, on Wednesday signed into law the 2026 Appropriation Bill of N897,865,078,282.05.
This was as his Delta State counterpart, Sheriff Oborevwori, presented an estimated N1.6tn budget to the state House of Assembly. The Katsina budget has recurrent expenditure fixed at N167.7bn (18.68%) and capital expenditure at N730.1bn (81.32%).
Speaking during the signing ceremony at the Government House, Katsina, Radda commended the state House of Assembly for passing the bill within 21 working days of its presentation.
He said, “Barely 21 days after submitting the proposal, the Assembly passed it, and today I have signed the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law.
Radda praised lawmakers for their sacrifices, including forfeiting holidays and holding extended defense sessions with ministries and agencies.
He described the document as a “people’s budget,” noting that inputs were sourced from all 361 wards through town hall meetings.
Earlier, the Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Nasir Daura, said the House had scrutinised the proposal and found it consistent with the development plan of the Radda administration. He noted that the estimate remained unchanged after review.
