As the festive season draws near, the Member representing Isuikwuato State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Lucky Udoka Nweke Johnson, has raised fresh concerns over the rising security threats across parts of the country, insisting that Nigeria cannot afford to treat the challenge with fragmented or isolated approaches.

Hon. Johnson, in a statement on Monday, emphasized that the Yuletide period traditionally experiences increased movement, commercial activities, and social gatherings, making proactive security coordination an urgent necessity. He stressed that the safety of citizens must remain the top priority as Nigerians prepare to travel, celebrate and reunite with their families.

According to him, insecurity has evolved in complexity and requires a unified, intelligence-driven strategy involving all security and paramilitary agencies.
We are dealing with issues that are far more dynamic than what one institution can manage alone,” he noted.
This is not the time for isolated interventions. The threats we face demand a collaborative approach, real-time information sharing, and a joint operational framework.”

Hon. Johnson warned that leaving individual agencies to work in silos undermines the nation’s capacity to tackle banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, and other criminal activities. He therefore charged the military, police, DSS, NSCDC and local vigilante groups to deepen inter-agency cooperation.

In his words: “Security is a collective responsibility. No agency, no matter how well equipped, can effectively safeguard our people without the support of others. We must pool resources, intelligence and manpower. We must work as one system, not separate units.”

He further appealed to community leaders and residents across Abia State to remain vigilant and cooperate with security personnel by providing timely information.
Hon. Johnson stated that proactive community surveillance plays a major role in preventing criminal activities during festive seasons.

We cannot wait for incidents to occur before we start responding,” he cautioned. “As the Yuletide approaches, I urge our people to stay alert, report suspicious activities, and support the efforts of our security forces. Together, we can make this season safe and peaceful.”

Reaffirming his commitment to promoting safety in Isuikwuato and the state at large, Hon. Johnson added that he will continue to engage both the executive and security agencies to ensure stronger operational synergy.
My priority is the well-being of my constituents,” he said. “I will keep advocating for a security architecture built on unity, coordination and shared responsibility.”

He concluded with a message of hope and reassurance, “If we stand together, we will overcome our challenges. This Yuletide will be peaceful, and our people will celebrate in safety. Collaboration is the key, and it is the path we must choose.”
