Fulani herdsmen have invaded our land: Ubani Ibeku people cry out to Ikpeazu


In a release by the Village Head Ubani Ibeku in Umuahia North L.G.A of Abia State, Elder Nnochiri Ikoro has called on the Governor Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu and Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji, Speaker Abia House of Assembly, to come to their rescue on the incessant invasion and destruction of their crops by herdsmen. 
"These Fulani herdsmen have taken over our bush and farms, and destroyed all our crops.
Ubani Ibeku people are known for their agricultural prowess and the means of the people's livelihood. But the herdsmen's invasion has made it very difficult for us to do our farm work" he said. 

"We are devastated, we cannot grow rice, potatoes, cassava and all other farm products. Our children, wives and mothers cannot access our farms for the fear of molestation /death by these herdsmen.

In some occasion, the herdsmen has tried to rape our children what went to fetch firewood, if not for the intervention of a hunter who came to their rescue, last week Friday, by 11pm, they invaded part of the community but the vigilantes resisted them. We have reported to the police station in ubani Ibeku all to no avail..
They have destroyed our crops worth millions of naira", he continued. 

In conclusion, he stated that Ubani Ibeku people are crying to the government to please come to their rescue and send these herdsmen out of their land, having known that there is a ban in the State on Open grazing.
