Hon Lucky Johnson Joins Abia Assembly Committee on Education for ABSU Oversight Visit, Commends ABSU's Progress

Hon. Lucky Udoka Nweke Johnson, the member representing Isuikwuato State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, recently joined his colleagues on an oversight visit to Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu, as part of the House Committee on Education’s effort to monitor ongoing infrastructural developments and project execution within the institution.


The committee, led by Chairman Hon. Uchenna Okoro, was warmly received by the Vice-Chancellor of ABSU, Professor Ndukwe J. Okeudo, and the University Management team. During the visit, the lawmakers inspected several ongoing and recently completed projects, including a 5,000-capacity students’ hostel, renovated Hostel A, renovation works on Hostel C, and the Faculty of Law Block.


Speaking, Hon. Lucky Johnson expressed his satisfaction with the progress observed and commended the University management for prioritizing students’ welfare. 

He stated, “It is heartening to see the quality of work being executed at ABSU. The commitment to improving student accommodation and learning facilities shows a clear dedication to fostering an environment conducive to academic excellence.”

He further emphasized the role of government support in education, “We must acknowledge Gov Alex Chioma Otti’s investments in educational infrastructure. These projects reflect the administration’s commitment to ensuring that our universities have the necessary facilities to enhance learning and student experience,” he added.


The committee chairman, Hon. Uchenna Okoro, also praised the management for their transparency and focus on project execution. 

The Assembly is committed to supporting institutions that prioritize the welfare of students. We are pleased with the progress we have seen today and will continue to provide oversight to ensure accountability and quality delivery,” he remarked.

In response, Vice-Chancellor Professor Ndukwe J. Okeudo thanked the lawmakers for their visit, assuring them of the University’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and maintaining high educational standards. 

We are grateful for the support and encouragement from the Abia State House of Assembly. Our focus remains on delivering quality education while ensuring the infrastructure meets the needs of our students,” he said.


The visit concluded with a renewed assurance from the lawmakers that the Abia State House of Assembly would continue to monitor educational projects across the state to ensure the implementation of quality, student-centered initiatives. 


Hon. Lucky Johnson also reiterated his commitment to advocating for policies and projects that uplift students and improve the overall standard of education in Isuikwuato and Abia State at large.
