THE people of Ohafia Community have assured the governorship candidate of Labour Party in Abia state, Dr. Alex Otti that his governorship ambition would enjoy the massive support of Ohafia people because they are convinced that he is the best candidate for the job
The people gave the assurance when the LP governorship candidate and his team took his campaign tour to Ohafia LGA of the state.
The tour began with a courtesy call to His Royal Majesty, Ezieohamoha Prof. E. I. L Imaga (Udumeze of Ohafia Kingdom), then proceeded to the palace of HRH, Eze Ukoha Kalu Ukoha JP(Kpoke 1 of Ebem Ohafia).
Re-echoing the position of the Traditional Rulers who didn't mince words in their support for Dr. Otti, the Labour Party State Chairman, who is also a son of Ohafia, Hon. Ceekay Igara eulogized the ex bank Chief, assuring the people of Ohafia that Otti has the requisite knowledge and capacity to turn the fortunes of Ndi Ohafia around and enjoined them to support him overwhelmingly.
Speaking to his people, the deputy-governorship candidate of the party, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, who is also from Ohafia, enjoined the people not to be deceived by politicians who have a hand in their plight, but vote for the Labour Party and it’s candidates, because they have shown the zeal and desire to salvage the state.
The atmosphere got more electrified as the Labour Party candidate, Dr. Otti was called up to the stage to speak to the people.
The foremost economist expressed gratitude for the massive support he has continually enjoyed from Ohafia since 2014, and promised to wipe their tears when elected the governor come March 2023.
He allayed the fears of the people over alleged plot by some enemies of democracy to rig the election, assuring that the new electoral law will drastically reduce election rigging and ensure that nobody will steal the mandate of the people.
Otti also appealed to the people not to be deceived by those who put their pictures on the same poster with the LP Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, but should cast their votes for Labour Party and all her candidates.
The renowned economist also promised to channel the state’s security vote into helping women and youths through a well organized and funded Corporative Societies, rather than pocketing it like it's presently the norm.
Dr. Otti had after having a town hall meeting with teachers and representatives of various Town Unions at the Skog Lodge, proceeded to the Ohafia Central School, Elu Community, Ohafia, where a mammoth crowd of supporters were already waiting and eager to see him.
The top banker made a commitment to transform Ohafia, and make it a major city with the requisite developmental indices.
In his words, “Ohafia deserves to be transformed into a modern city. As we take over the reigns of the state come May 29th. We shall develop Ohafia the same way we shall develop Aba, Umuahia and the rest of Abia state”, he concluded.
The campaign outing was rounded off at the Presbyterian Church, Ishiama Parish, Elu, Ohafia, where Dr. Otti met with a large number of pensioners from different parts of the local council, who have been reduced to mere beggars by the current administration through non payment of their pensions.
Addressing the senior citizens of the state, the governorship candidate assured them that they would be paid all their pension arrears before the end of the year once he emerges the governor.
In his words “If you are worried about how we shall pay off the humongous debt, I assure you that I am well vast in financial knowledge and debt management.
“The economy of the state is of great importance to me. So we shall create wealth for our people, and make the state habitable for businesses to thrive.
“Ohafia has phosphorus in commercial quantity, which we shall develop by sighting an industry in Ohafia, which will create a lot of jobs for Ndi Abia and Ohafia in particular, and increase the GDP of the state which remains a meager percentage compared to neighbouring states in the country"
Dignitaries who accompanied Dr. Otti to Ohafia were, his wife, Mrs. Priscilla Otti; his Running Mate, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu; Abia State Chairman of the Labour Party, Hon. Ceekay Igara; Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa, LP candidate for Ohafia/Arochukwu Federal Constituency; Hon. Chief Kalu Mba Nwoke (Etiokwe), Abia House of Assembly Candidate of the Labour Party for Ohafia State Constituency; members of the Alex Otti Campaign Council and other party officials and faithfuls.
