The attention of the Dr. Alex Otti Campaign Organisation has been drawn to the widespread, indiscriminate appropriation, display and misuse of the image and person of the Presidential Candidate of our great Party, His Excellency, Peter Obi, on the Campaign Posters and Billboards of various Candidates of the People's Democratic Party, but more particularly on the Posters and Billboards of its Governorship Candidate in Abia State, Uche Ikonne.
We note with dismay, that this grand deception is gradually becoming commonplace as we see pictures of our Candidate, Mr Peter Obi, displayed conspicuously alongside PDP Candidates in Posters & Billboards mounted by the PDP and/or their Candidates in several different strategic parts of the State.
Clearly, the ostensible intendment of this calculated subterfuge by the odious PDP is to latch unto the pervasive popularity and acceptability of our Party and it's Presidential Candidate, the unimpeachable Mr Peter Obi, being that the PDP's Presidential Candidate is highly discredited and unsellable. By displaying Obi's pictures alongside their Candidates therefore, the PDP nurses the forlorn hope that the pristine Obi image and persona would rub off on, and magically wash away its iniquities, and that voters would somehow be hoodwinked and beguiled into voting their Candidates as they vote Obi.
This, is a joke taken too far.
We are now therefore constrained to issue this disclaimer, calling out the chief culprit, the Governorship Candidate of the PDP, alongside his odious principal, the PDP, to desist forthwith from this blatant chicanery. This cheap attempt to reap where they did not sow, by passing-off another Party's Candidate as theirs; must stop. Parties must learn to cede their platforms to candidates with enough credibility to attract votes, else, live with the unpalatable consequences of their poor choices. You cannot eat your cake and have it. Those rogue Posters/Billboards depicting such unlikely, unholy alliance between our Presidential Candidate and the invisible Uche Ikonne must be pulled down immediately.
There must be no hiding place for the PDP. Uche Ikonne must run alongside his discredited Presidential Candidate, and on the dubious legacies and scorecard of the PDP, which has earned its stripes in infamy for dragging Abia down the gutter as undoubtedly the most backward, underdeveloped State in the entire Southern Nigeria.
We reassure the good people of Abia State that there could be no meeting between darkness and light. We urge everyone to be vigilant and not be deceived by the desperate, despicable opportunistic antics of the shameless, dying PDP.
