Hon Anderson Akaliro urges Constituents to cue into Maternal Newborn and Child Health activities, Hails Otti


Hon. Barr. Anderson Kelechi Akaliro, the representative for Umuahia North Constituency in the Abia House of Assembly, has expressed his gratitude to the wives of the governor and the deputy governor for their dedicated efforts to significantly reduce or eliminate child mortality in the state.

In his statement, Akaliro also commended the executive governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, for the remarkable improvements in the health sector, particularly in primary health care, since he took office.

The 2024 Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health Week was launched yesterday at the Umuahia North LGA premises, attended by Mrs. Adaeze Emetụ, wife of the Deputy Governor of Abia State, who officiated the ceremony on behalf of the governor's wife.

Hon. Akaliro reaffirmed his support for the program, which will be conducted in all primary health centers across the state from June 17th to 23rd, 2024.

This year's Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health Week will include activities such as immunization, deworming, vitamin A supplementation, malaria medication for pregnant women, birth registration, family planning services, and HIV/AIDS counseling and testing, among others.

The Lawmaker urged
his Constituents in Umuahia North to cue into the activities of the Maternal Newborn and Child Health Week.
He encouraged all parents and guardians to take advantage of the free services being offered during the week to ensure the health and well-being of their children.

Barr. Akaliro emphasized that these initiatives are crucial for building a healthier future for the state's children and praised the coordinated efforts of the health workers and volunteers involved in the program.

In closing, Akaliro called for continued investment in the health sector to sustain the progress made and to address any remaining challenges. 
He assured the public of his unwavering commitment to supporting policies and programs that prioritize the health and safety of mothers and children in Abia State.
