Igoyan Baba Urges Abia PDP to Mend Ties with Citizens to Regain Opposition Influence

Prominent Abia Ace broadcaster Igoyan Baba, (real name Bright Ejike) has called on the Abia state chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to reconcile with the state's populace if the party aims to reclaim its position as the main opposition.

He emphasized the necessity of internal reconciliation within the party, highlighting that several remaining members of the Abia PDP still harbor grievances and feelings of mistreatment.

Prior to the 2023 elections, Abia PDP was on a trajectory towards disintegration due to perceived injustices and unfair practices. The party's apparent indifference to the people's struggles further widened the gap between the government and the Abia people.

"It is an offense that can be reconciled, but a simple apology such as 'We are sorry' or 'Abia PDP apologizes' is insufficient, the party needs both internal and external reconciliation" Igoyan stated.

Abia requires a robust opposition to hold Dr. Alex Otti's administration accountable. Opposition is crucial for development, but it must be conducted with decency.

"Currently, what you witness in Abia is ordinary citizens defending the incumbent government. This reflects the profound discontent of the Abia people with PDP as the main opposition," he remarked.
"PDP needs to get their ass together and start afresh, the party was torn apart by the people of the party who felt more important than others so if it wishes to reestablish itself as the leading opposition, there must be self reconciliation and salvation," he concluded.
