The President-General of the Igbo World Union (IWU), Sir Dr. Mishak Nnanta, has expressed relief and gratitude over the successful rescue of medical students and prospective corps members kidnapped in Benue and Zamfara states respectively.

The 20 medical students, abducted on their way to Enugu State, were rescued in a coordinated operation led by the National Security Adviser's office. Similarly, all eight prospective corps members kidnapped on the Funtua-Gusua Road in Zamfara State were rescued, according to Major General Yusha'u Ahmed, Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

Sir Nnanta described the rescue operations as "relieving and heartening" and commended the security agencies involved. However, he emphasized the need for proactive measures to prevent similar incidents in the future and ensure accountability for those responsible.

The IWU President stated that addressing insecurity and holding perpetrators accountable is crucial for the country's progress.
He encouraged the government and security agents to intensify efforts to prevent kidnapping and other criminal activities, ensuring a safer environment for citizens.

The Igbo World Union has consistently advocated for improved security and safety measures, and this statement reaffirms their commitment to supporting initiatives that promote peace and stability in Nigeria.
