Umuahia, December 6, 2024 -
The Chief Whip of the Abia House of Assembly and representative of Umuahia South State Constituency, Hon. Emeka Obioma, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to Governor Alex Otti for flagging off the reconstruction of the Umuopara Ring Road.
The ambitious project, aimed at improving access and fostering development in rural communities, has been hailed as a transformative initiative.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday, Obioma described Governor Otti as a hardworking leader committed to redefining Abia State as "God's Own State" with a new and modernized outlook.
“This initiative is a testament to the Dr Alex Otti’s dedication to delivering meaningful infrastructural development across the state,” Obioma said. “The Umuopara Ring Road will not only enhance connectivity but will also unlock economic opportunities for the Umuahia South. We shall forever be grateful for this bold step.”
Highlighting the significance of the project, Obioma noted that it would alleviate the long-standing challenges faced by constituents in accessing essential services and markets.
“For years, the people of Umuopara and surrounding communities have endured poor road infrastructure that hindered their progress.
This project is more than a road—it is a bridge to prosperity, and Governor Otti has demonstrated his resolve to address these issues head-on,” he stated.
The lawmaker also underscored the Governor’s broader vision for Abia, commending his commitment to creating a state that reflects its moniker as God’s Own State.
“The Governor's efforts are not just about infrastructure; they represent a mindset shift.
He is building roads, but he is also building hope, confidence, and a sense of pride for every Abian,” Obioma added.
Speaking on the dualization of the 5.95-kilometer Abia Express Tower road to Onuimo Bridge, Obioma praised the Governor’s determination to make Abia’s entry points iconic.
“The Abia City Gate project is a landmark initiative. It signifies that anyone entering Abia is stepping into a state that values excellence and progress. Governor Otti is fulfilling his promise to make Abia’s infrastructure a true reflection of its people’s resilience and aspirations,” he remarked.
Obioma also expressed confidence in Craneberg Construction Company, the firm awarded the project.
“Craneberg’s track record of delivering quality work is reassuring. With the inclusion of drainage systems and solar-powered streetlights, we are not just talking about roads; we are talking about sustainable and future-ready infrastructure,” he said.
He called on the people of Umuahia South and Abia State as a whole to support the Governor’s efforts, emphasizing the need for unity in achieving the administration’s goals.
“Governor Alex Otti cannot do it alone. We must all play our part—by supporting his vision, cooperating with project teams, and ensuring these projects are sustained.
Together, we can make Abia the beacon of excellence it was destined to be,” Obioma concluded.
Constituents and stakeholders in Umuahia South have echoed similar sentiments, lauding the Governor's proactive leadership and expressing hope for the transformative impact of these projects. With these ambitious undertakings, Abia State is set to witness a new era of growth and prosperity.
