Abia State, Nigeria – June 23, 2025
Hon. Akym Onyekwere Uche has underscored his unwavering dedication to public service, declaring that his commitment to the people of Abia North extends far beyond the boundaries of political seasons or election cycles.
Speaking with National Sunrise correspondent, Hon. Akym emphasized that genuine leadership is defined by lives transformed through consistent, people-centered action.
“For me, leadership is not a title you hold during elections, it is a responsibility you carry every day,” he said. “Whether elections are near or far, my commitment to serve the people of Abia North remains steadfast. Service is not seasonal; it is lifelong.”
Akym noted that true public service is measured by the impact it creates in communities, particularly among the most vulnerable, and reaffirmed his resolve to keep working with honesty, humility, and accountability.
“It is easy to show up when cameras are rolling. But what matters most is what you do when no one is watching, when the campaign noise is gone,” he stated.
“My heart is with the people, and every project I support, every initiative I drive, is aimed at improving lives.”
Over the years, Akym has been known for his grassroots-focused approach to leadership, initiating a variety of programs targeting youth empowerment, skills development, women inclusion, and rural infrastructure enhancement across the five local government areas of Abia North.
“We’ve been able to support many youths in trainings and support women traders with small business grants,” he said. “These are not campaign promises, they are my covenant with the people.”
In his remarks, he also called on other political and community leaders to embrace a culture of continuous service, reminding them that the trust of the people must be earned daily through action and accountability.
“Our people deserve more than speeches, they deserve solutions. We must work not just to win elections, but to win the future for our children and communities,” Akym said.
Several youth and women leaders also praised Akym Onyekwere for being accessible, transparent, and consistent in his approach to leadership.
“We see him not only during election time, but always,” Mrs. Ifunanya Nwoke said. “He listens to us, he acts on our needs, and he never stops serving. That’s the kind of leader we trust.”
Hon. Akym has remained focused on his message of unity, development, and purposeful leadership, insisting that his priority remains with the people, not personal ambition.
“Whatever comes tomorrow, let it find me already serving today,” he concluded.
