Umuahia, Abia State - June 6, 2025 –
The Member representing Umuahia North State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Barr. Anderson Kelechi Akaliro, has felicitated with the Muslim faithful across Nigeria as they celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, urging all citizens to embrace unity, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence.
In a goodwill message released from his office on Friday morning, Hon. Akaliro extended warm Sallah greetings to the Muslim community in Abia State and beyond, commending their steadfast faith, spiritual devotion, and contributions to the collective progress of society.
“Barka da Sallah to all our Muslim brothers and sisters,” Akaliro said.
“Eid-el-Kabir is not just a celebration of sacrifice, but a moment of reflection, on obedience to God, compassion for others, and the need to live in peace with our neighbours.”
The lawmaker emphasized that Nigeria’s strength lies in its diversity and called for increased efforts to bridge religious and ethnic divides.
He urged leaders at all levels to promote policies and actions that reflect inclusion, tolerance, and equity.
“We must remember that our differences are not weaknesses, they are the very fabric of a great and resilient nation,” he said.
“Let this season of Eid be a reminder that no matter our religion or background, we are all Nigerians with a shared destiny. We must deliberately choose peace over prejudice, and unity over division.”
Hon. Akaliro also used the occasion to call on Muslim faithful to uphold the values of generosity and empathy, particularly towards the less privileged, which are central to the essence of Eid-el-Kabir.
“Eid teaches us to give, to share, and to uplift the downtrodden,” he said.
“In this challenging economic climate, I encourage all those who are able to extend kindness to their neighbours and contribute to building stronger, more compassionate communities.”
He noted the vital role religious leaders play in guiding their followers towards peaceful living and urged continued prayers for the state and the country at large.
“As you observe your prayers and sacrifices, please remember to pray for the peace, unity, and prosperity of Abia State and our dear nation,” Akaliro added. “We need divine guidance and the wisdom of our people to navigate the times we are in.”
Hon. Akaliro concluded his message with a reaffirmation of his commitment to fair representation and unity in diversity.
“My office remains committed to working with people of all faiths and backgrounds to promote justice, peace, and equal opportunities for all,” he said.
“May this Eid bring joy to your homes, strength to your spirit, and hope for a better tomorrow. Eid Mubarak!”
