Abuja, Wednesday, June 18, 2025 —
The member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Obi Aguocha, has reaffirmed his unflinching support for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), describing his solidarity as “non-negotiable and unapologetic.”
Speaking to newsmen shortly after Kanu’s court appearance in Abuja, Hon. Aguocha emphasized that his support stems not only from shared ancestry and constituency, but also from a deep conviction in justice, equity, and the rule of law.
“My solidarity with my brother and constituent, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, is non-negotiable and unapologetic. I stand for justice, and I will continue to lend my voice to ensure his fundamental human rights are protected,” Hon. Aguocha stated firmly.
He called on the Federal Government to pursue peaceful dialogue and constitutional engagement with aggrieved regions rather than sustained detention and trial of agitators, noting that the release of Nnamdi Kanu remains key to fostering lasting peace in the South East.
Aguocha, known for his vocal advocacy on matters concerning the South East, reiterated his commitment to legislative action that promotes inclusiveness, national healing, and the protection of civil liberties.
He concluded by urging fellow lawmakers and stakeholders to prioritize justice, fairness, and reconciliation in addressing Nigeria’s ethnic and political complexities.
