“A Disciplined and Visionary Leader” — Hon. Anderson Akaliro Pays Tribute to Late President Buhari

Umuahia, Abia State – July 13, 2025 — 
Hon. Barr. Anderson Kelechi Akaliro, Member representing Umuahia North (Ohuhu) State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, has expressed sadness over the passing of former Nigerian President, His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday, at the age of 82.
 
In a heartfelt tribute made available to newsmen, Hon. Akaliro joined millions of Nigerians and world leaders in mourning the death of the elder statesman, whom he described as “a disciplined and visionary leader who served Nigeria with unwavering commitment.”
 
“I am saddened by the loss of a leader who redefined discipline in public service,” Akaliro said. “President Buhari was not just a statesman, but a father figure to many of us. His love for Nigeria was pure and his dedication unquestionable.” 
 
Speaking on behalf of the people of Umuahia North Constituency, Akaliro noted that the late president’s legacy would live on in the consciousness of citizens who yearned for dedicated leadership.
 
Extending his condolences to the Buhari family, the government and people of Katsina State, President Bola Tinubu, and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Akaliro called for national unity and reflection in this period of grief. 
 
This is a sad moment for our nation, but also a time to reflect on the principles he lived for,” he stated. “We must carry forward the ideals of selflessness, honesty, and unity that defined his leadership. That is the best way to honour his memory.” 
 
Hon. Akaliro emphasized that the late President Buhari, despite political and economic challenges left behind a moral standard that public office holders should emulate.
 
He was never one to flaunt power. His simplicity and discipline set a tone for what true leadership should look like in Africa,” he remarked. 
 
As preparations for the burial of the former president commence, Akaliro prayed for God’s comfort on the bereaved family and for national healing. 
 
May his soul find eternal rest, and may Nigeria never forget the sacrifices he made for her progress,” he concluded. 
 
President Muhammadu Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s civilian president from 2015 to 2023, and as military Head of State from 1983 to 1985, is expected to be buried in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, according to Islamic rites. Tributes continue to pour in from across the globe as Nigeria bids farewell to one of its most consequential leaders.
