The Abia State House of Assembly Chief Whip and Member representing Umuahia South State Constituency, Hon. Emeka Tommy Jacob Obioma, has expressed sadness over the death of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away earlier today at the age of 82.
In a solemn statement made available to newsmen on Sunday, Hon. Obioma conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family and to the Federal Government of Nigeria, urging them to find strength in this moment of national mourning.
"I received the news of the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari with deep sadness," Hon. Obioma said. "The passing of any former national leader marks a significant moment in a nation's history. My thoughts and prayers are with his immediate family, especially his wife and children, as well as all those grieving at this time."
The lawmaker further called for sober reflection among Nigerians, stressing the importance of unity in times of collective loss.
"This is a time for the nation to show empathy and support," he added.
"I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Federal Government, the people of Katsina State, and all those who were close to late President Buhari. May they find the courage to bear this loss."
He concluded by praying for peace and comfort for the bereaved family.
"May God grant his family the fortitude to endure this painful loss and bring healing to all who mourn.
"Rest in peace Mr President!"
