Abia State, July 5, 2025 —
A former Abia State governorship candidate and philanthropist, Onyekwere Akym Uche, has urged political office holders across the Southeast to emulate the exemplary leadership style of Gov Alex Otti, describing him as a beacon of integrity, competence, and people-focused governance.
Speaking to journalists on Friday, OAU praised Gov Otti for what he called a transformational approach to leadership since assuming office, adding that Otti’s performance has brought pride not only to Abia State but to the entire Southeast.
“Dr. Alex Otti has proven that good governance is possible when there is sincerity of purpose. His achievements in infrastructure, workers’ welfare, education, and healthcare have set a pace that others in the region should learn from,” Onyekwere said.
He emphasized that what the Southeast needs is a new era of purposeful leadership that prioritizes the needs of the people over political gains. According to him, Otti’s governance model has restored public trust and revived citizens’ hope in democratic leadership.
“The time has come for political office holders in the Southeast to shift away from self-serving politics and embrace a performance-driven model like what we see in Abia under Alex Otti. That is the only way we can develop the region and meet the expectations of our people,” he added.
Onyekwere, who contested the 2023 Abia gubernatorial election, also called on the electorate to support leaders with vision, integrity, and a genuine passion for service, stressing that holding public office should not be about personal enrichment but community transformation.
