In a swift and proactive move to tackle the growing menace of erosion threatening various communities in Ohuhu, Hon. Anderson Kelechi Akaliro, Member representing Umuahia North (Ohuhu) State Constituency, has issued a public call to action, urging all affected villages to submit detailed reports of erosion-related challenges for prompt intervention.

The directive, issued through his constituency office, is part of Hon. Akaliro’s ongoing efforts to safeguard lives, farmlands, and homes in erosion-prone areas across the constituency.
The lawmaker stressed the urgency and importance of responding collectively to the environmental threat that has worsened in recent times, particularly during the ongoing rainy season.

Our communities must not wait for disaster before we act. We have seen how erosion can displace families and destroy properties. I want every village in Ohuhu that is affected to document their situation and send it in immediately,” Hon. Akaliro said in a statement to the press.

According to the public notice, communities are required to submit a report containing the name of the village, exact location(s) affected, extent of the erosion, visual evidence (such as photos or videos), and the contact details of a representative from the community. These submissions will form the basis of the constituency’s response strategy and legislative follow-up with relevant state and federal agencies.

This is not just a request; it is a necessary step in helping me advocate effectively on your behalf. I need concrete, organized data to push for government intervention, and long-term solutions. The earlier we act, the better we can protect our people,” Hon. Akaliro emphasized.

Submissions are to be delivered to the Constituency Office of Hon. Anderson Kelechi Akaliro, located at Ola-Edo Plaza, Ekeoba Junction, opposite NNPC Mega Filling Station, Umuahia. The office has assured that a team is on standby to receive and document the reports as they arrive.

We are not going to play politics with erosion. This affects everyone, and we are committed to following through until something is done. I urge our traditional leaders, youth groups, and town unions to mobilize quickly and get these reports in,” Akaliro added.

Community leaders have welcomed the initiative, calling it a timely intervention. Many praised the lawmaker for showing visible concern and offering a practical pathway toward resolving a problem that has lingered for years.

As erosion continues to threaten infrastructure, farms, and safety in Ohuhu, Hon. Akaliro’s call marks a renewed effort to engage grassroots stakeholders in finding a sustainable solution.
