Umuahia, Abia State |July 15, 2025 —
In a strategic move to promote youth empowerment and employment within Ohuhu communities, the member representing Umuahia North (Ohuhu) State Constituency in the Abia House of Assembly, Hon. Barr. Anderson Kelechi Akaliro, has called on qualified sons and daughters of Ohuhu to take full advantage of the ongoing federal recruitment exercise into various paramilitary agencies.
The recruitment, which is coordinated by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), covers the Nigeria Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Correctional Service, and the Federal Fire Service.
The application portal: [https://recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng](https://recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng) is currently open, with the deadline set for three weeks from the date of commencement.
In a statement issued on Monday, Hon. Akaliro emphasized the importance of Ohuhu youths participating actively in national opportunities.
He described the recruitment as “a golden chance” for young people seeking to serve the country and build stable careers.
“I want to encourage every eligible Ohuhu son and daughter, whether a fresh graduate or an experienced professional, to apply for this federal recruitment,” Hon. Akaliro said.
“These agencies offer stable and respectable jobs, and we must seize this chance to ensure that our people are well represented.”
He stressed the significance of employment as a tool for both personal development and community growth, noting that increased federal representation by Ohuhu indigenes will strengthen the voice of the constituency in national affairs.
“It is not just about getting a job; it is about building influence, contributing to national development, and securing the future of our youth,” he added.
“This is why I am personally mobilizing our people and raising awareness, so no one is left behind.”
The lawmaker further urged traditional leaders, youth groups, community development unions, and religious institutions in Ohuhu to help disseminate the information widely and assist interested applicants in accessing the online application platform.
“We must work together to ensure our youths are aware and prepared,” Akaliro stated. “Let’s provide them with guidance and motivation to step forward and compete.”
Barr. Akaliro reiterated his unwavering commitment to grassroots empowerment and equitable access to opportunities, adding that his office remains open to support constituents in need of direction or clarification during the application process.
As the countdown to the deadline begins, the Umuahia South Rep expressed optimism that many qualified candidates from the constituency would not only apply but also succeed in joining the federal service ranks.
“Let this be a turning point for many families,” he concluded. “Let it be said that from Ohuhu, young men and women rose to serve the nation with pride and purpose.”
