Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Thursday, reassured residents of the state that he would not betray their trust if given another mandate to serve beyond his current tenure, even as traders, artisans, and market-based unions formally endorsed his re-election bid.

The endorsement, made under the banner of the Peoples First Movement during a rally at Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Osogbo, is seen as a significant boost to Adeleke’s chances in the August 8, 2026 governorship election.

It follows earlier declarations of support by civil servants, farmers, and the Osun State PDP leadership caucus.

Speaking at the event, Adeleke urged voters to prepare ahead of the polls by registering and collecting their Permanent Voter Cards.

Great people of Osun State, I will not betray your trust. You will always find in me Imole of good governance and democratic dividends. For good governance to continue, get your voters card, mobilise your families and friends, let your voice be heard and your vote count,” he said.

In his remarks, the PFM Coordinator, Luqman Ayoade, praised the governor’s performance, especially in infrastructure.

He said Adeleke had “excelled beyond people’s expectations,” citing the execution of road dualisation projects, flyovers, and other development efforts despite limited resources.

On the sidelines of the rally, Adeleke launched another phase of his administration’s empowerment drive, presenting 2,000 women and youths with Business Registration Certificates, Point-of-Sale terminals, and start-up grants under the Imole Business Empowerment Scheme 1.0.
