Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has praised the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company, Jennifer Adighije, describing her as a beacon of outstanding leadership and dedication to national service.

The commendation was made during a courtesy visit Adighije paid to the First Lady in Abuja. In a statement released on Sunday by the NDPHC, Tinubu expressed admiration for the CEO’s performance since assuming the leadership of the power company.

The First Lady highlighted Adighije’s commitment, passion, and sense of responsibility in steering NDPHC, noting that such qualities were rare and deserving of national recognition.

“I sincerely commend your efforts towards leading NDPHC with every sense of diligence and commitment, and I can’t hide my joy and pride for young women who demonstrate rare leadership qualities and virtues as you have done,” Tinubu was quoted as saying.

She added that Adighije stood as a shining example of what young women in leadership could achieve when given the opportunity, stressing that her role was inspiring to many aspiring leaders across Nigeria.

Tinubu used the occasion to emphasise her support for young women occupying positions of authority, saying their achievements serve as motivation for others seeking to break barriers in governance and business.

According to her, Adighije’s performance reflects not only personal excellence but also the growing role of women in shaping Nigeria’s socio-economic development. The First Lady further extended her goodwill to the management and staff of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company, urging them to rally behind their CEO to achieve the company’s mandate.

She encouraged the team to continue aligning with Adighije’s vision to advance the company’s contributions to Nigeria’s power sector, which remains critical to the nation’s industrial and economic growth.

“Your leadership is commendable, but sustaining it requires the collective effort of your management and staff. I encourage the entire NDPHC family to support you fully as you drive the organisation’s mandate,” Tinubu said.

Jennifer Adighije’s leadership at NDPHC has attracted increasing attention for her hands-on approach to management and her commitment to delivering results. Observers note that her tenure reflects a blend of technical expertise and innovative thinking aimed at boosting Nigeria’s electricity infrastructure.

Her recognition by the First Lady is seen as a significant endorsement that underscores the role of effective leadership in public sector organisations, particularly those operating in critical areas such as power generation and distribution.

The exchange between Tinubu and Adighije not only highlighted the accomplishments of the NDPHC boss but also reinforced the First Lady’s commitment to celebrating and encouraging women who excel in their chosen fields.

For many Nigerians, the event is a reminder of the importance of recognising and nurturing leadership qualities among the younger generation, especially women, to foster sustainable development and national progress.

As Adighije continues to lead the NDPHC, stakeholders will be watching closely how her leadership contributes to addressing Nigeria’s long-standing challenges in the power sector.
