The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers who were allegedly caught in the act of dispossessing unsuspecting residents of their valuables around the Shoprite Mall, Ikeja, and the Maryland areas of the state.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, in a statement on Thursday, identified the suspects as Segun Adeyemi, 32, and Abayomi Ajayi, 24, who were said to be part of a three-man gang operating with a motorcycle.
Adebisi disclosed that the suspects were arrested on Monday at about 7:15 p.m., after the police received a distress call that the gang was attacking people in the area.
She said that operatives from the Ikeja Division responded swiftly to the call and apprehended two of the suspects, while the third member of the gang escaped.
She stated, “On September 29, 2025, at about 1915 hours, the operatives received a distress call that the vicious gang was attacking people in the area. The police operatives acted promptly, and two of the suspects were arrested, while the third escaped.
“The operational motorcycle used by the gang was recovered as an exhibit. Preliminary investigation revealed that the three-man gang came from Mushin to carry out their criminal activities in Ikeja before luck ran out on them.”
She added that the arrested suspects were in custody and would be prosecuted upon conclusion of investigations, while assuring the public of the command’s commitment to their safety.
