Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has announced that his administration has earmarked over N800m for the empowerment of non-indigenous communities in the state, including Ndi Igbo, Arewa, Yoruba, and the Niger Delta.
Eno disclosed on Saturday while addressing members of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo Worldwide, Akwa Ibom State Chapter, during the Igbo Unity Day Celebration at Ibom Hall Grounds, Uyo.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering unity and inclusivity, assuring that all residents, regardless of ethnic background, feel valued and empowered to contribute to the state’s growth.
He praised the Igbos for their entrepreneurial spirit and noted that many of their members were born in the state and had established successful businesses there.
The Igbo people here are part of our social fabric; they have added value to our community through their remarkable spirit of industry and brotherhood,” he said.
Eno also commended the Igbo community leadership for promoting unity and peace, which he described as the hallmark of his administration.
“With unity, a lot can be achieved for the overall good of the community,” he added.
The governor emphasised that “Akwa Ibom State is fast becoming a melting pot where various cultures and tribes come together in a symphony of love, unity, and peaceful co-existence.”
He attributed this success to the government’s deliberate pursuit of peace, security, and hospitality.
Eno thanked Ohaneze Ndi Igbo for honouring him as their grand patron and for declaring their support for the 2027 re-election bids of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and himself.
He pledged to continue partnering with the Igbo community and other non-indigenous groups to sustain harmonious relations, provided they live peacefully, obey the law, and refrain from criminal activity.
Earlier, the President of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo, Akwa Ibom State Chapter, Kayceey Chidiadi, lauded Governor Eno for his visionary leadership, noting that his peaceful and unifying approach has fostered harmony in the community.
He expressed gratitude for the inclusion of their members in government positions, a privilege not previously extended to them since the creation of the state.
