Abia State |November 20, 2025 —
Abia 2027 Governorship Aspirant, Chief Mascot Uzor-Kalu (MUK), has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to strengthening grassroots development across the state.
Speaking to newsmen in Umuahia, Kalu emphasized that sustainable development can only be achieved when local communities are empowered and adequately supported.
MUK stated that his passion for grassroots advancement is rooted in his belief that development must begin from the smallest units of society.
According to him, any administration or political leader that prioritizes community-level growth is laying the structural foundation for a prosperous and stable state.
“Grassroots development is not just a political slogan; it is the backbone of real progress,” Kalu declared.
“If we want to see Abia rise and thrive, then we must invest in our local communities; our villages, our wards, our rural economies. That is where the future is built.”
He explained that rural and semi-urban communities in Abia have long suffered from inadequate infrastructure, underfunded schools, lack of access to basic amenities, and limited economic opportunities. Strengthening these communities, he said, would naturally result in reduced poverty, increased productivity, and improved social cohesion.
“The truth is simple: when you improve the lives of the people at the grassroots, the entire state experiences growth,” he said.
“We must ensure that rural roads are motorable, that farmers have modern tools, that our markets are secure and functional, and that young people in these communities have access to training and opportunities. That is how development becomes meaningful.”
Chief Kalu also commended several communities for their resilience despite years of limited government attention. He assured them that his political efforts, advocacy, and planned projects will continue to focus on community empowerment, rural infrastructure, and educational improvement.
“Our communities have shown remarkable strength, but they deserve more than survival, they deserve progress,” he said.
“My commitment is to push for more investments, more partnerships, and more initiatives that touch the lives of ordinary Abians directly. No development is sustainable if it does not reach the people who need it most.”
Chief Mascot Uzor-Kalu also urged stakeholders to remain united and proactive in identifying the needs of their communities.
He said collaboration between leaders and citizens is crucial for ensuring equitable development and accountability.
“We must all work together; leaders, youths, women, traditional institutions, to push for the kind of Abia we want,” he noted.
“The journey to real development starts from the ground up, and together, we can make Abia a model for community-driven growth.”
