Philanthropist and former Abia governorship candidate, Hon. Onyekwere Akym Uche (OAU), has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to education and rural development, describing them as vital instruments for national transformation.
He said that with integrity, diligence, and collective effort, Nigeria will surely rise again and reclaim its place among the great nations of the world.

Speaking, Hon. Onyekwere Akym Uche emphasized that education remains the most powerful tool for changing society and breaking the cycle of poverty. He noted that his foundation has made education support and rural upliftment its top priorities because these sectors directly impact human capacity and grassroots growth.

Education is the foundation of every great nation,” OAU said.
If we empower our young people with knowledge and the right values, we are investing in the future of Nigeria. That is why we have continued to provide scholarships, school materials, and mentorship programs for students across Abia and beyond.”

He added that rural development must go hand in hand with educational advancement, as most Nigerians still live in rural communities that lack basic infrastructure.
According to him, addressing the imbalance between urban and rural development will unlock the country’s true economic potential.

We cannot have meaningful progress when rural areas are neglected,” he stated. “Roads, electricity, healthcare, and access to quality education must be extended to every community. My foundation will continue to support projects that improve rural livelihoods and empower families to live with dignity.

OAU urged Nigerian leaders to adopt a culture of integrity and hard work, insisting that the nation’s challenges can only be overcome through honest leadership and responsible citizenship. He lamented the growing moral decay in public life, which he said has hindered the nation’s progress.

Nigeria will rise again, but it will not happen by luck or chance,” he declared. “It will rise through integrity, hard work, and a sincere commitment to doing what is right. Every leader, every citizen must embrace these values for us to see lasting change.”

He also encouraged the youth to reject shortcuts to success and embrace diligence, innovation, and ethical living. According to him, young people are the hope of the nation and must be equipped not only with education but also with moral strength.

Our young people must believe that hard work still pays,” OAU emphasized. “We must rebuild our nation on values of honesty, respect, and service. When we work with integrity, we attract God’s blessings and create a better Nigeria for the next generation.”

Through the OAU Foundation, Onyekwere Akym has supported several community-based initiatives, including the renovation of rural schools, distribution of educational materials, empowerment of women and youths, and healthcare outreach programs.
He reiterated that these efforts would continue as part of his lifelong mission to touch lives and build a more equitable society.

I will not relent in my service to humanity,” he concluded. “My dream is to see every child in school, every village connected to opportunity, and every Nigerian proud of the nation we are building together.”
