Umuahia, Abia state |December 24, 2025 —
Hon. Barr Anderson Kelechi Akaliro, Member representing Umuahia North (Ohuhu) State Constituency in the Abia House of Assembly, has called on residents to embrace the spirit of the season through acts of kindness, unity, and gratitude.
In a message to his constituents on Christmas Eve, Akaliro emphasized that the festive period offers a unique opportunity for reflection, generosity, and strengthening of community bonds. He highlighted that Christmas is not only a time for celebration but also a period to show compassion and care for one another, particularly for the less privileged.
“The true meaning of Christmas lies in our ability to reach out to others, to support those in need, and to create joy through acts of kindness,” he said. “Even a small gesture can bring hope and happiness to someone who may be struggling during this season.”
He further encouraged families and communities to use the festive period to foster unity and reconciliation.
“Christmas reminds us of the importance of coming together, setting aside differences, and appreciating the value of shared experiences,” Akaliro noted.
“It is a time to strengthen our relationships and nurture harmony in our homes and communities.”
Acknowledging the challenges faced by many people, Hon. Akaliro urged constituents to focus on gratitude for the blessings they have, rather than being overwhelmed by difficulties.
He also emphasized the role of charitable acts in making the season meaningful.
“As we celebrate, we must remember those who are less fortunate and extend a helping hand,” Akaliro said. “Sharing resources, offering support, or simply spending time with those in need reflects the true spirit of Christmas.”
Hon. Akaliro concluded by urging Abians to embrace the essence of Christmas beyond material considerations.
“Let this festive season be marked by kindness, unity, and gratitude. Celebrate with love, compassion, and a heart ready to give. This is how we can make Christmas truly special for ourselves and those around us,” he added.
