Abia State |December 30, 2025 —
In a remarkable demonstration of compassion and community service, Hon. Lucky Udoka Nweke Johnson, member representing Isuikwuato State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, brought the spirit of Christmas to over 200 widows and widowers across 20 ABSEIC political wards in Isuikwuato Local Government Area.
The festive outreach, which took place earlier this week, involved the distribution of carefully curated Christmas welfare packages, including cash support, rice, wrappers, and other essential items to address immediate needs. The initiative was aimed at supporting bereaved individuals who often endure the emotional and financial challenges of the festive season in silence.
Speaking during the event, Hon. Johnson expressed his commitment to lifting the spirits of the less privileged in his constituency.
“Christmas is a season of love, compassion, and care. It is our duty as leaders to remember those who are often overlooked, especially widows and widowers who carry silent burdens. Today, we extend not just gifts, but hope and reassurance that they are valued members of our community,” he said.
Hon. Johnson also pledged to construct a house for a vulnerable individual from Uturu who currently has no home.
“No one should be without shelter, especially during the festive season. I have been informed of this family’s plight, and I promise to ensure they have a home that provides dignity and security,” he affirmed.
Beneficiaries of the outreach expressed heartfelt gratitude for the support. Many shared that the initiative restored their hope and reminded them of the power of community solidarity.
Hon. Johnson acknowledged the support of local leaders who helped organize the outreach, including the Abia Arise LGA Coordinator, Sir Emmanuel Okoronkwo. He also recognized his wife, Lolo Mrs. Patricia Ifeoma Johnson, for her unwavering encouragement and participation in the initiative.
“These efforts are not mine alone. They reflect the collective spirit of our family and community leaders committed to making a difference,” he said.
The event concluded with prayers and expressions of hope for a brighter future, as beneficiaries and leaders alike celebrated the season of giving and remembrance.
Speakers, including Hon. Elizabeth Onyeabor representing the Mayor, emphasized the importance of small acts of kindness in restoring dignity and providing emotional relief to those who need it most.
Through this initiative, Hon. Lucky Johnson has once again reinforced his reputation as a people-centered leader, demonstrating that thoughtful and targeted interventions can bring joy, hope, and tangible support to the most vulnerable during the festive season.
