Hon. Obi Aguocha Marks Boxing Day with Call for Selfless Service and Hope for a Better Society

Abia State |December 26, 2025 —

The Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency, Hon. Obi Aguocha, has called on constituents and Nigerians to embrace the true spirit of Boxing Day by committing themselves to selfless service, compassion, and renewed hope for a better and more just society.

In a Boxing Day message released on Friday, Hon. Aguocha described the occasion as a moment for sober reflection on shared values and collective responsibility, noting that the season provides an opportunity to look beyond personal comfort and extend genuine care to the less privileged and vulnerable in society.

Boxing Day reminds us that the measure of our humanity is found in how we treat one another,” Aguocha said. “It is a call to selfless service, an invitation to give without expecting anything in return and to stand with those who are often left behind.”

He emphasized that social progress and national development cannot be achieved without compassion and inclusiveness, stressing that a society anchored on empathy and justice is better positioned to overcome economic and social challenges.

A better society is built when service replaces selfishness and when hope triumphs over despair,” he stated. “Each act of kindness, no matter how small, contributes to healing our communities and strengthening the fabric of our nation.”

Hon. Aguocha urged individuals, families, corporate bodies, and faith-based organisations to use the Boxing Day period to reach out to the needy, including widows, orphans, persons with disabilities, and struggling households, especially in rural communities.

We must ensure that the joy of the season touches everyone,” he added. “No one should feel abandoned or forgotten during a time meant to reflect love, generosity, and shared humanity.”

Reaffirming his commitment to people-centered representation, the federal lawmaker pledged to continue advocating policies and initiatives that promote social justice, economic inclusion, and grassroots development across his constituency.

As your representative, I remain steadfast in my resolve to serve with integrity and compassion,” Aguocha said. “Our collective future depends on our willingness to care for one another and to work tirelessly for the common good.”

He concluded by wishing his constituents and Nigerians at large a peaceful Boxing Day celebration, expressing optimism that the values of selfless service, unity, and hope would endure beyond the festive season and guide the nation toward a brighter future.
