Yuletide: Hon Obioma Hosts Umuopara Development Union, Distributes Christmas Rice to Ten Wards

The Chief Whip of the Abia State House of Assembly and Member representing Umuahia South State Constituency, Hon. Emeka Obioma, on Monday, hosted a high-powered delegation from the Umuopara Development Union, reaffirming his unwavering commitment to grassroots development, inclusive governance, and effective representation.

The delegation, made up of respected leaders, elders, and key stakeholders of the Umuopara Clan, paid the visit at Hon. Obioma’s residence to engage on issues of critical importance to their communities and to further strengthen the cordial and productive relationship between the people of Umuopara and their representative in the Abia State House of Assembly.

Welcoming the delegation, Hon. Obioma expressed deep appreciation to the Union for their sustained commitment to unity, peace, and community development. He commended the leadership of the Umuopara Development Union for consistently prioritizing the collective welfare of their people, describing such dedication as the foundation of sustainable grassroots progress.

“I am sincerely grateful to the Umuopara Development Union for this visit and for your continued commitment to unity and development,” Hon. Obioma said. 
When communities remain united and focused on the common good, development becomes achievable and sustainable.

During the interaction, the lawmaker reassured the delegation of his resolve to provide effective representation anchored on people-oriented legislation and inclusive governance. He emphasized that his office remains open and accessible to the people of Umuopara and the entire Umuahia South State Constituency.

As your son and representative, I want to assure you that my commitment to effective representation and people-centred legislation remains unwavering,” Obioma stated.

Speaking further in his capacity as Chief Whip of the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Obioma reaffirmed his readiness to continue partnering with community-based organisations, including the Umuopara Development Union, to promote sustainable development, peaceful coexistence, and shared prosperity across the constituency.

In the same spirit of unity and political engagement, Hon. Obioma also hosted the ten ward councillors of Umuahia South, alongside ward chairmen of his party and their women leaders. According to the lawmaker, “Grassroots mobilisation and unity within the party structure are key to effective governance and service delivery. When we work together as one, the people benefit more.”

As part of activities marking the Yuletide season, Hon. Obioma also distributed Christmas rice to the ten wards through the ward councillors and ward chairmen, as a gesture of support to families and communities during the festive period. He described the initiative as part of his ongoing commitment to grassroots welfare and social support.
