We are dolling out over N800 million worth of scholarship to students - Greg Ibeh


Prof. Greg Ibeh the founder of Gregory University Uturu, Abia state has awarded a scholarship to over 100 students to assist in their education under the Gregory Iyke Ibe Foundation Scholarship Scheme. The scholarship which is worth about N8 million for each beneficiary, and totalling to about N800 million has been dolled out as an educational aid to the students. 

The foundation which has from its inception been actively involved in awarding scholarships to astounding and deserving Igbo students and more,  boasting of over 500 candidates who have benefitted from this scholarship scheme. 

According Prof. Greg Ibeh who is also the Governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance in Abia state: The scholarships is void of political bias and is awarded to everyone, the scholarship cuts across all political lilines. 

Speaking, the vice chancellor of the institution explained that Prof. Greg’s scholarship scheme is not just for undergraduates and cuts across various disciplines such as Engineering, Medicine, Environmental Sciences, Social and Management Sciences, Humanity, Pharmacy, Education and Law. 

Prof. Uwakwe further opined that the scholarship scheme; “has contributed and still contributing to human capacity development and the generation of relevant manpower and expertise in critical areas for the development of Abia State and Nigeria at large and therefore not surprising that education is an area of Prof. Ibe’s gubernatorial manifesto.

He tasked the beneficiaries on deligence and encouraged them to take advantage of the scholarship as a "Great weapon of change, self development, emancipation, as well as societal development" and further used the opportunity to call on the good people of Abia state to vote for Prof. Gregory as the next Governor of Abia state, stating that "his Philanthropy will definetly be extended to all"

The All Progressive Grand Alliance State Chairman, Rev. Augustine Ehiemere in his speech hailed the event as unprecedented and went on to describe Prof. Ibe as a "rare gem, star and a galaxy God is using to give impetus to APGA in Abia state".

Amb. Sunday Onukwubiri who was ably represented by the APGA state Secretary, said "Prof. Greg Ibe is laying a life long legacy that will see one or two of the beneficiaries recall this event at every point of their life", he further expressed his belief in the beneficiaries as they would ensure to make efficient use of this opportunity to be the best in their various endeavors.

The Director General, Prof. Greg Ibe Campaign Organization, Sir Longman Nwachukwu, speaking at the event said that described Prof. Greg Ibe as a man who values education and places premium importance to quality education "which has seen many Abians and non-Abians alike within the state and across the Federation acquire University Degrees from Gregory University, Uturu. 

He described the scholarship as an “uncommon gestures and rare privilege” and charged the beneficiaries take full of this and come out to be the best in their various fields and chosen career choice. 

Addressing the occasion, an alumni of the scholarship and a student of the university, Mr. Prosper Ahuruanya showed his profound gratitude to Prof. Greg Ibe for his various scholarships, stating that Prof. Ibe “has given value to human society”.

Prosper who hails from Ugwunnagbo LGA described Prof. Ibe as "a man with heart of gold in ensuring that those who are supposed to go to school do so” and urged the people of Abia to Vote Prof. Ibe as he has all it takes to tackle all pressing issues in the state as well as provide suitable solutions to them.

He called on Abians to vote rationally for a better Abia, in his words; “Abians, forget about sentiments and give Prof. the chance to govern the state”, Prosper pleaded.
