In a commendable effort to support education in his constituency, Hon. Emeka Obioma, member representing Umuahia South in Abia House of Assembly, has launched a free JAMB registration initiative aimed at easing the financial burden on students aspiring to enter tertiary institutions.
In a statement made available to newsmen, the Lawmaker emphasized the importance of education in community development and reiterated his commitment to supporting students in every possible way.
"Education is the bedrock of any progressive society. By providing free JAMB registrations, we are investing in the future of our youths and by extension, the future of our community," he said.
The initiative covers the registration fees for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination, a critical step for students seeking admission into Nigerian universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.
The Abia Assembly Chief Whip noted that financial constraints often hinder students from pursuing higher education and this initiative aims to alleviate such burdens.
The program is part of Hon. Obioma's broader commitment to enhancing educational opportunities and empowering youths in Umuahia South.
Eligible students registered at designated centers across the constituency, where they received free preparatory materials.
The transformative initiative, which was conducted offered free Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) registration for about 73 students in his constituency.
Community Leaders and residents and beneficiaries have lauded the Lawmaker's initiative, highlighting its potential to inspire and enable more students to achieve their academic dreams.
Speaking on behalf of the community leaders, Chief Nnamdi Okoro noted,
"Hon. Obioma's dedication to education is truly inspiring.
This initiative will undoubtedly have a positive impact on our youths and our community as a whole."
Hon. Emeka Obioma however encouraged other Lawmakers and private sector partners to support similar educational initiatives to foster national development.
As the registration process concluded successfully, Hon. Obioma assured his constituents of continued support and encouraged the students to work hard and excel in their examinations.
