Hon. Barr. Anderson Kelechi Akaliro, Member representing Umuahia North State Constituency in Abia State House of Assembly, has emphasized the vital importance of the legislature in a democratic society. 
Speaking at a town hall meeting in umuahia on Friday the lawmaker stressed that the legislature serves as a cornerstone of democracy, providing a platform for representation, oversight, and accountability.

"The legislature is the voice of the people, and it is our duty to ensure that the voices of our constituents are heard loud and clear," Hon. Akaliro said. "We must continue to work tirelessly to promote transparency, accountability, and good governance, as these are the hallmarks of a healthy democracy."

The lawmaker highlighted several key functions of the legislature, including:
