Abia Lawmaker Akaliro, Decries Rising Attacks on Security Officers, Urges Support for Families of Slain Policemen

Hon. Barr. Anderson Kelechi Akaliro, the representative of Umuahia North Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, has expressed profound sorrow and condemnation over the recent killing of two policemen at Opobo Junction, Aba, on June 28, 2024. He extended his condolences to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the state government, the people of Abia State, and the families of the deceased.

"It was a tragic day for Abia, and the news of the killing of the policemen by unidentified individuals came as a shocking blow, especially since Abia State is still reeling from the recent killing of soldiers at Obikabia Junction in Aba just a month ago. This alarming trend of targeting security officers in Abia State is extremely dangerous and utterly unacceptable," he stated.

Hon. Akaliro reminded residents of their crucial role in maintaining security.
"Security is everyone's responsibility. We must all assist the government and security agencies by remaining vigilant and reporting any suspicious activities. I urge our security agencies not to be discouraged by these unfortunate events."

"I also appeal to the Inspector General of Police to ensure that the families of the slain policemen are well-supported by the police authorities. The sacrifices of these brave officers must not be in vain."

In conclusion, Hon. Akaliro offered heartfelt prayers for the families of the deceased.
"I pray that the Almighty God will grant the families of the slain policemen the strength to bear the irreparable loss. May the souls of the departed rest in peace."
