Igbo World Union (IWU) Commends South East Governors' Plan to Address Kanu's Detention

The President-General Igbo World Union (IWU) His Imperial Majesty Sir Amb Mishak Nnanta (KJW), Gburugburu Ndigbo Dum has commended the governors of the South East region for their proposed visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Sir Nnanta described the move as a "bold and necessary step towards addressing the prolonged detention of Kanu, which has been a significant source of tension in the region. He emphasized that the intervention by the South East governors demonstrates their commitment to peace and stability in the area.

"By seeking a dialogue with President Tinubu, the governors are showing their dedication to finding a peaceful and diplomatic solution to the issues surrounding Kanu's detention," Gburugburu Ndigbo stated.
He further expressed hope that this initiative would pave the way for a resolution that respects the rule of law while addressing the grievances of the people of the South East.

His Imperial Majesty also called on all stakeholders, including federal authorities to support the governors' efforts and engage in constructive dialogue. He noted that such collaborative efforts are crucial for fostering unity and progress in the region.

Sir Mishak Nnanta's comments come amid increasing calls for the release of Kanu, who has been in detention since his arrest in June 2021. The case has drawn widespread attention both locally and internationally, with various human rights organizations urging the Nigerian government to ensure a fair trial and respect for Kanu's rights.

In conclusion, Amb. Nnanta reiterated his belief that the governors' intervention could be a turning point in the quest for peace and justice in the South East. He urged all parties to seize this opportunity to work towards a lasting and amicable resolution.
