Edo Guber: Abia Lawmaker, Anderson Akaliro Congratulates Sen. Okpebholo, Rep. Idahosa on Victory at polls

Hon Barr Anderson Akaliro, Member representing Umuahia North State Constituency in the Abia House of Assembly, has congratulated Edo State Governor -Elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo on his victory at the just concluded September 21, 2024 governorship election.

Akaliro also lauded Federal Lawmaker, Hon. Dennis Idahosa who was elected Deputy Governor of the State.

"I heartily congratulate Senator Monday Okpebholo and Hon Idahosa on their well-deserved victory in the Edo State gubernatorial election," Akaliro stated. "This is a testament to their dedication and commitment to the people of Edo State.

Recall that Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, secured 291,667 votes, winning 11 out of 18 local government areas in the state. His closest rival, Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), garnered 247,274 votes, while Akpata of the Labour Party (LP) received 22,763 votes.

Hon Akaliro praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting a peaceful and transparent election. 

"The success of this election is a victory for democracy and the people of Edo State."

He urged Senator Okpebholo to prioritize the welfare and development of Edo State, saying, "As you prepare to assume office, I charge you to remain focused on your campaign promises and work tirelessly to improve the lives of Edo people."

Akaliro's congratulatory message echoed the sentiments of other Nigerian leaders, including former President Muhammadu Buhari, who also congratulated Senator Okpebholo on his victory.

The people of Edo State look forward to Okpebholo's leadership, expecting positive changes and development in the state.

Akaliro who commended Edo people for returning APC to power in the State said that the party is consolidating its success in Southern Nigeria.

He urged Okpebholo to show magnanimity in victory and also urged the incoming administration to work for the people of Edo to elevate the current status of the State in line with the Renewed Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

As Senator Okpebholo prepares to take office, he carries the hopes and expectations of the Edo people.
