Hon. Emeka Jacob Obioma, the Umuahia South Rep, and Abia State House of Assembly Chief Whip has called on journalists across Abia State to adopt a unified and collaborative approach to promote development.
Speaking to newsmen in Umuahia, Obioma highlighted the critical role that journalists play in shaping public opinion and driving positive change.
He emphasized that, through a more cohesive effort, the media can amplify key developmental issues and mobilize community support for government initiatives.
Obioma noted that, Abia has made strides in various sectors, He stressed that a proactive media, working in harmony, could bridge the gap between the government and the public, increasing transparency and fostering a culture of accountability that ultimately benefits the state.
“We need a united front among our journalists. When the media works together, we can achieve far more than working in silos,” Obioma stated.
He encouraged journalists to report on development projects accurately, adding that, “The public deserves an informed perspective, and the media has the power to inspire change.”
The Lawmaker also proposed regular forums where journalists can collaborate, discuss challenges, and align on impactful stories that could spur action from both government and private sectors.
He expressed optimism that with such an approach, Abia State would experience accelerated growth, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for its citizens.
