Abia Lawmaker, Anderson Akaliro Welcomes Osisioma Ngwa PDP Stakeholders to APC, Hails Move as a Political Boost


Umuahia, Abia State - January 9, 2025 

In a significant political development in Abia State, Hon. Anderson Akaliro, the lawmaker representing Umuahia North Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, has warmly welcomed a group of prominent stakeholders from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area to the All Progressives Congress (APC). 

Akaliro described their decision to join the APC as a major boost for the party's strength and prospects in the state.

Recall that the defection, led by Dr. Ikechukwu Nwabeke, a former Chairman of Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area and ex-member of the House of Assembly, was marked by a courtesy visit to Senator Nkechi Nwaogu at her residence on Kamalu Street, Aba. 
The visit served as an occasion for the stakeholders to formally declare their allegiance to the APC and pledge their support for the party’s victory in the upcoming general elections.

During the visit, Dr. Nwabeke commended Senator Nwaogu's exceptional leadership and reaffirmed the group’s readiness to work tirelessly for the APC. 
"We are here to formally declare our membership and to assure you of the support of our numerous followers who will also be joining the APC," he said.

Reacting to the news of the Defection, Hon. Anderson Akaliro praised the decision of the defectors, noting the significance of their move for the growth of the APC in Abia State. 
The decision of these respected stakeholders to join our party is a clear indication that the APC is gaining momentum and is being recognized as the party of choice for true progressives,” Akaliro stated.

He further highlighted the political impact of the defection, stating, “These are seasoned politicians with deep connections to the grassroots, and their alignment with the APC will undoubtedly enhance our structure and broaden our appeal across Abia State. 
Their experience and influence will be instrumental as we work towards electoral success.”

The gathering featured Rt. Hon. Kennedy Njoku, a former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, who emphasized the unity and determination of the defectors to strengthen the APC. 
Other notable figures among the defectors include Hon. Nnamdi Allen Nwachukwu, a former member of the Abia House of Assembly; Hon. Chief Iheanacho Ogunka, former campaign director for Okezuo Abia Campaign Organization; Barr. Tony Mgbarine, a former ABSIEC commissioner; and Engr. Chinedu Onwuka, a PDP stalwart.

Akaliro emphasized the importance of unity and collective effort in achieving the party's goals.
