Former Abia Assembly Member Barr. Emeka Okoroafor to Lay Late Mother set to Rest



Abia State – Former member of the Abia State House of Assembly, Barr. Emeka Okoroafor, is set to bid a final farewell to his beloved mother, Late Madam Grace Okoroafor.

In a statement released by the legislator, the burial arrangements have been carefully planned to honor the life and legacy of the matriarch, who was described as a pillar of strength and wisdom in her family and community.

Burial Arrangements

The events will begin on Friday, 10th January 2025, with a Christian Service of Songs/Wake scheduled for 7:00 PM at her late husband’s compound in Umu-Ekwerima, Amauzu.

The burial proper will take place on Saturday, 11th January 2025, starting with the body leaving Parklane Hospital (ESUTH Teaching Hospital, Enugu) at 7:00 AM. It will then follow these stages:

9:00 AM: Body received at her father’s compound, Amaja Ozara.

10:00 AM: Body received by her maternal family at Ndentu Ohoroho.

10:30 AM: Body lies in state at her late husband’s compound, Umu-Ekwerima, Amauzu.

12:00 NOON: Funeral service conducted by the Methodist Church Nigeria.

2:00 PM: Interment follows immediately after.


The family will hold an Outing/Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, 12th January 2025, at Wesley Methodist Church, Umudinja, Ovim, at 10:00 AM.

Barr. Emeka Okoroafor expressed deep sorrow over the loss of his mother while celebrating her life of dedication and love. He praised her for being a beacon of hope and strength, not only to her immediate family but also to the entire community.
