Umuahia, April 1, 2025 –

Hon. Obi Aguocha, the Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency, has once again demonstrated his commitment to academic excellence by awarding scholarships to 284 students across primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions.

The Obi Aguocha Educational Support Program, which was first launched last year, saw 286 beneficiaries in its inaugural edition. This year, a total of 284 students have been selected for the second batch of the initiative.
The scholarship disbursement ceremony is scheduled for April 17, 2025.

Speaking about this year's scholarship initiative, Hon. Aguocha stated that education remains a cornerstone of sustainable development, and his initiative is aimed at alleviating the financial burden on families while encouraging young people to pursue their academic dreams.

This initiative is born out of my strong belief that education is the greatest investment in our future. By providing these scholarships, we are not just funding school fees; we are nurturing future leaders, innovators, and professionals who will contribute meaningfully to our society,” Aguocha stated.

The breakdown of this year’s scholarship beneficiaries includes 160 students in tertiary institutions, 64 in secondary schools, and 60 in primary schools.
The allocation follows a structured distribution formula, ensuring that each of the 32 wards in the constituency is adequately represented.
Each ward will receive scholarships for approximately eight students —four for tertiary education, two for secondary schools, and two for primary schools.

This program is structured to ensure fairness and inclusivity across all wards in our constituency. Our aim is to reach as many deserving students as possible, irrespective of background, and give them an equal opportunity to excel,” Hon. Aguocha added.

He further emphasized the importance of education in national development, stating, “A well-educated society is a progressive society. I am committed to ensuring that as many students as possible have access to quality education without financial constraints.”

All students who have received notifications of their selection are invited to attend the official scholarship disbursement event on April 17, 2025, where they will receive their awards and further guidance on the support program.

Hon. Aguocha’s continued investment in education has been widely praised by stakeholders, parents, and community leaders, who acknowledge his unwavering dedication to the growth and development of Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency.
