The Abia State House of Assembly Chief Whip and Umuahia South Rep, Hon. Emeka Jacob Tommy Obioma,
has hailed the recent Supreme Court ruling that sacked Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party, calling it a "divine intervention" that has restored order and justice within the party.
The judgment, which has been widely celebrated across Nigeria, signals a new chapter for the Labour Party, and among its most ardent supporters is Hon. Obioma.
In a statement to newsmen on Friday, Hon. Obioma expressed immense gratitude to God for the victory, stating, "Thank You Jesus! The Labour Party is recovered. This is not just a legal victory, it is a spiritual breakthrough for our party and for the Nigerian people who believe in a new Nigeria."
According to Hon. Obioma, the Supreme Court's ruling marks a pivotal moment in cleansing the Labour Party of internal conflicts and sabotage, allowing the party to return to its core values of justice, transparency, and accountability.
He stressed the need for the party to focus on rebuilding trust and aligning with the vision of representing the will of the people.
“For too long, the Labour Party has suffered internal hijack by those who do not represent the will of the people,” Obioma remarked.
“But today, the highest court in the land has spoken, and the truth has prevailed. This victory belongs to all Nigerians yearning for genuine change.”
Hon. Obioma further urged party members to set aside past grievances and unite for the tasks ahead, especially in strengthening democratic values, revitalizing internal party structures, and preparing for future elections.
He also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to promptly act in accordance with the court’s ruling to formalize the new leadership.
“Let this be a turning point, Let us return to the path of truth and service to the people.
"The Labour Party is a movement of hope, and we must not let anything derail it again. I thank the judiciary for standing on the side of justice, and above all, I thank God Almighty for this victory,” he concluded.
This ruling is seen as a momentous shift in the Labour Party’s trajectory, with many hopeful that under the new leadership, the party will reclaim its position as a leading force in Nigeria’s political and democratic landscape. With committed leaders like Hon. Emeka Obioma, supporters are optimistic about the party’s future and its ability to usher in the change Nigeria desires.
