Umuahia, Abia State – May 10, 2025 –
The Progressive Youth Alliance of Ikwuano-Umuahia (PYA-IU) has praised the Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency, Hon. Obi Aguocha, for what they described as his “unwavering commitment to unity, equity, and progressive development” in the constituency.
In a statement released on Friday following a strategic youth engagement meeting held in Umuahia, the group expressed deep appreciation for the lawmaker’s transparency, inclusive governance, and tireless efforts to uplift the constituents, especially young people.
“We are proud to identify with a leader whose actions reflect the true essence of representation,” the group stated.
“Hon. Obi Aguocha has not only carried every segment of the constituency along in his policies and programs but has also shown that integrity and service can still define politics in Nigeria.”
The group noted several of Hon. Aguocha’s initiatives, including the 2024–2025 Educational Support Program which benefited hundreds of students across all wards in Ikwuano and Umuahia.
They also cited his bold legislative stance on national issues and his consistent advocacy for restructuring, equity, and justice in Nigeria as proof of his visionary leadership.
“We are particularly inspired by his emphasis on unity; not just among the three blocs that make up our constituency, but among all ethnic nationalities,” Chidera Nwankwo, who is the spokesperson of the Coalition said.
“His inclusive approach sets a powerful example in a time when division and political selfishness have become rampant.”
While commending his efforts, the group also used the opportunity to reaffirm their support and pledge continued collaboration with his office. “As youths, we recognize the rare opportunity we have to work with a leader who listens and delivers. We are ready to play our role in supporting policies that will transform our communities,” another youth leader, Esther Kalu, said.
However, the group acknowledged the need to improve its organizational structure and visibility. They announced plans to rebrand and restructure to better align with their advocacy for accountable leadership and youth development.
“We aim only to support leadership that projects development, strength, unity, and purpose, one that will resonate across political divides and attract progress to our communities,” Kalu added.
The youth group concluded their address by calling on other elected officials in the state to emulate Hon. Aguocha’s model of people-centered leadership and bridge-building politics.
